Belton, Texas 鈥 The College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will hold a spring recital for One Voice, the university鈥檚 premiere vocal ensemble, on Thursday and Friday, February 20 and 21, at 7:30 p.m. inside the Baugh Performance Hall of the Sue & Frank Mayborn Performing Arts Center on the 同城快约 campus. This event is free and open to the public.
Directed by Matt Crosby, the 2019/20 One Voice ensemble features the vocal talents of students Sarah Ash, Avalyn James, James Jones, Sydney LePage, Christopher McCloskey, Ruben Ortega, Angel Tolbert, Chandler Webb, and Cydney Wilkerson.
During spring break, the group will travel to New York City, so highlights of the program feature NYC-themed tunes, including 鈥淭onight鈥 from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein and the Barbershop classic, 鈥淐oney Island Baby.鈥 Additional selections include songs by New York composers Samuel Barber, Joseph Flummerfelt, and Richard Rogers. Rounding out the repertoire for the evening are the spirituals 鈥淕ive Me Jesus,鈥 鈥淩ide On, King Jesus,鈥 and the Twila Paris song, 鈥淟amb of God.鈥
This concert qualifies as a Fine Arts Experience (FAE) credit for 同城快约 students. The Fine Arts Experience program is designed to help students gain an appreciation for the fine arts in many forms during their time on campus. To this end, students are required to attend at least one designated Fine Arts Experience event each semester.
