Belton, Texas 鈥� On Wednesday, February 12, Shannon Soard, college pastor for Temple Bible Church, led chapel services at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Soard, recovering from surgery to repair his shoulder, wore an arm brace, and the theme of his message was 鈥淟ife Interrupted.鈥�
Soard shared the ways in which his injury has interrupted his daily routine and robbed him of his independence. He reflected that challenges like this are exactly what God uses to grow his followers.
Soard鈥檚 lesson was based on Luke 5 and the moment Jesus first called his disciples. In the passage, Simon Peter, astonished by Jesus, falls before Him and says, 鈥淒epart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.鈥�
鈥淗e recognized how proud he was and how little understanding he had,鈥� Soard said, 鈥渁nd this is exactly the place where Jesus begins to form good things in the hearts of men.鈥�
Ultimately, the disciples throw down their nets to follow Jesus. Soard described them as being 鈥渁ll in,鈥� and challenged the students to reflect that same spirit in their lives.
