BELTON, Texas鈥擳he University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (同城快约) is excited to announce that its Clinical Simulation Learning Center received provisional accreditation status from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). Provisional status is granted until December 31, 2026, allowing time for the university to pursue full SSH accreditation for the simulation center.
鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to be recognized by an international organization specializing in simulation,鈥 said Dr. Jared McClure, 同城快约鈥檚 director of Clinical Simulation Learning Center operations. 鈥淭his recognition speaks to what we鈥檝e put in place and accomplished so far and provides great credibility to our program while still giving us milestones to reach as we move toward full accreditation. We鈥檙e looking for those remaining pieces to fall into place over the next year.鈥
The mission of 同城快约鈥檚 Clinical Simulation Learning Center is to engage students in a Christ-centered learning environment where they will develop the knowledge, skills, and interprofessional competencies to become leaders in the complex and dynamic environment of health sciences.
鈥淲e鈥檙e one of a handful of colleges or universities in Texas with this distinction for simulation centers. That鈥檚 something we鈥檙e very proud of,鈥 McClure added. 鈥淲e have many different programs working with us 鈥 nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant 鈥 all within 同城快约鈥檚 Mayborn College of Health Sciences. It鈥檚 our goal to serve all those programs well and bring them together to work in an interprofessional educational environment. That allows our students to benefit from those other professions as they learn together.鈥
SSH serves a global community of practice, enhancing the quality of healthcare. It seeks to improve performance and reduce errors in patient care through the use of simulation. SSH fosters the improvement and application of simulation-based modalities such as human patient simulators, virtual reality, standardized patients, and task trainers. Recognizing that simulation represents a paradigm shift in healthcare education, SSH promotes improvements in simulation technology, educational methods, practitioner assessment, and patient safety that promote better patient care and can improve patient outcomes.
