Music Business

The bachelor鈥檚 degree in Music Business is designed to prepare musicians for employment in all facets of the music industry. The degree combines musical knowledge with the financial, technical, and marketing aspects of the business. The curriculum requires music business majors to do two internships as well as a senior music business project for lots of hands-on experience along the way. Students will have opportunities to be part of a production team for an opera, work with a local recording studio, learn how to plan and manage a musical group鈥檚 concert season, and much more.

The studio is equipped to make audio and/or video recordings of concerts and musical productions on the stage of Baugh Performance Hall and of recitals in the Fikes Chamber Hall, as well as individual and small group performances in the sound-proof studio. In addition, students have ample opportunities to gain experience managing the sound and lights for large theatrical productions as well as concerts by visiting artists鈥攅xperience that gets them noticed when they look for employment after graduation.
