Avery Green is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Media Studies at 同城快约. Green started teaching at 同城快约 in 2005. During this time, she's taught a variety of classes including Intro to Public Relations, Advanced Public Relations, Social Media for Strategic Communicators, AP Copy Editing, Photojournalism, Intro to Mass Media and Seminar in PR. Green oversees student internships as they pertain to the Mass Communication/PR track. She is the Program Coordinator for the PR track.
Green was instrumental in founding the 同城快约 Chapter of Student Event Planners Association (SEPA) in spring 2018. SEPA was recognized as the new 同城快约 Student Organization of the Year by Student Organizations in May 2018.
Green has served as a Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) in professional communications for the 同城快约 MyWay Degree program since its inception in 2016. She's also served as interim department chair for the 同城快约 Communication & Media Studies department and interim 同城快约 faculty adviser for the campus newspaper. Additionally she served as the 同城快约 yearbook adviser for a decade (2005-2015).
Currently Green is pursuing her Doctor of Education - Ed.D, Leadership in Higher Education Administration at 同城快约.
Green earned a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in Speech Communication from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. In 2015, Green earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Prior to starting her graduate work, Green worked in the business sector in the following capacities:
*Information Education Specialist for the Texas State Soil & Water Conservation Board (TSSWB)
*Director of Program Development for the Temple Chamber of Commerce (TCOC)
*Public Relations Specialist for the Post Oak Resource, Conservation and Development (RC&D) Office
