Brent Gibson obtained a Ph.D. from Baylor University in 1999 and has been teaching in the English Department at 同城快约 since the fall of that year. Dr. Gibson teaches courses in Rhetoric and Composition, American Literature, British Literature, Literary Theory, Popular Literature, and Religion and Literature. He also teaches an upper-level interdisciplinary Honors Seminar each fall. Dr. Gibson regularly presents papers at the national conference of the Popular Culture Association and at the Southwest Regional Conference on Christianity and Literature. He has previously served as both Vice President and President of the latter organization. He also has served as Executive Secretary/Treasurer and as President of the Conference of College Teachers of English. Dr. Gibson has published a book entitled An Annotated Bibliography of Walt Whitman, 1976-1985 (Mellen Press), and has published articles in Christianity and Literature, Popular Culture Review, CCTE Studies, and the Walt Whitman Encyclopedia.
